| they might look well-ripened, but they're not. in another month or so one can make sour lemonade from the berries, or jelly. |
I watched Dr. Horrible finally. Very good! Definitely worth the $5. It was like watching Buffy again! (Once more, with feeling!) I noticed Buffy staff people in it (David Fury, Marti Noxon, etc) and of course, the actors :) Neil Patrick Harris was funny ^_^
I bought a fish today!
Walked into Wal-Mart and I always head to the fish. I donno why. But as it turns out, I saw one that I thought was adorable and decided I wanted him.
$1.88 later and he was mine.
I've never spent this much on a fish before. I've always bought just plain goldfish.
But I named him Kingyo. I'm not sure if that means goldfish or just fish...
Oh well. He's pretty active though! *huggles tank*
I don't normally do this, but I just can't deny the urge to share the smushy, morbid love. YES, apparently part of me is a sniveling little emo fag, but you know what? I don't care. Every time I hear this song on the radio at work it makes me want to cry, and even though the lyrics may seem a little dark for the occasion, it's one the main songs that I have picked out in my head for my little Make-Believe Wedding That Never Was.
So eat it, bitches. You know there's something terribly beautiful about it.
DCFC - I Will Follow You Into The Dark
edit: Wow, my night has totally gone off-track. I had such good intentions when I first got on, but it's quickly dissolved into music and pictures. Have an ironic Myspace angle with that heapin' helping of Angst!
How do you get computer users to like Vista? Don't tell them it's Vista, apparently.
Microsoft played a little trick on some Windows XP users who said they didn't like Vista. In a test market, they decided to show them a new operating system that they were working on, codenamed "Mojave". Turns out that 90% of them liked what they saw. Only then did they reveal that Mojave was actually...Vista.
Big article it on CNet: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-99983
As the article points out, it appears that Vista's major problem these days has less to do with technical issues and conflicts (which was probably true way back when Vista was first rolled out); rather, Vista's main problem is one of perception. It's a bad operating system because "everybody says so."
That matches what I have observed. Everyone that I know (friends, family, even my former boss) has had an immediate negative reaction to Vista, and refuses to use it, opting to stick to XP instead. Meanwhile, last fall I went out and bought a new laptop, which I am using right now, which had Vista pre-installed. Can't say I have had any major problems or conflicts or anything. I'm not going to sing the hosannahs of Vista, I'm not some major Vista cheerleader or anything -- but I can say as an average computer user that I'm perfectly fine with it.
I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the Vista-avoidant computer users out there have a negative reputation of the operating system due to nothing more than reputation alone. Eh, I don't think it matters a whole great deal anyway, because Vista has been disliked by so many people for so long, I don't think there is *anything* that could be done to rescue it at this point, short of Jesus returning to Earth and giving it the thumbs-up.
Still, and interesting article and experiment, though.
(Also, the fact that my computer was store-bought standard and had Vista pre-installed probably helped a great deal with any potential technical issues. If I had to upgrade from XP to Vista on an already-existing custom-built computer, I'm sure my experiences would be very different.)
My WinAmp is going spazzoid and I have no idea how to fix it.
I was playing an MP3 that I ripped, USING WinAmp, in high quality VBR. The song played fine when I ripped it. The song plays fine on iTunes. The song plays fine on WMP. The song plays fine in every other media player.
When I play it in WinAmp, it's horribly distorted. I do not know how to fix this, or even what the hell is wrong with it. :( It's driving me crazy, because I had to download freaking iTunes to play music, and I hate iTunes.
Oh, I tried re-encoding the file back to CBR, and it STILL sounds horrible, but *ONLY* in WinAmp. Same file sounds perfectly fine in other players. What the fuck. Other files that were originally recorded in CBR sound fine in WinAmp.

INUYASHA ENDED!?
Sweet.
Yesterday it hit me.
Like a punch in the stomach.
I'm never going to see her again. Ever.
And it's just so freaking painful. Shit. It's been almost two months. I'm supposed to be getting over it. How come it's like I only just realize the extent of my loss?
When does it get better?
Fucking's cool, but Ace's the romantic type,
loitering on cliffs, thinkin' about stuff like
screwing you on the beach at night.
I took the day off today to watch the second half of the final season of Avatar, and /damn/. What a show.
( Cut for spoilers! )
And yes, at the end of the epic, Toph is still my favorite.
i lost my phone -- i dropped it in a cab x.X;; i'm just happy it's not my camera, or my DS, or my freaking PSP TAT;; good thing i was at the mall already so i went to my service provider and had my postpaid line cut. i also bought a new phone that same evening, some cheap MOTOROLA model that was on sale.
meh my monthly budget's all fucked up for the third month in a row, no thanks to this. something tells me i shoul blame the chinese zodiac for this -.-;;
Would... anyone be interested in an HP TNG fest? I realise there are quite a few fests going on right now, so this wouldn't have to take place immediately (maybe a fall/winter fest? or even a spring fest would be fine), but
the_ass_fest is ending soon and I kind of need my next gen fix. I don't have time to write, but I wouldn't mind modding if some people offered to help. The fest would include all next gen pairings, from Albus/Scorpius to Teddy/Rose. Opinions?
( This is really just an excuse to post a poll )
Yay, more amusing spam headlines from this emailbox I monitor at work. This box gets many thousands of emails a day, and a good chunk of it is spam. The spam headlines sort of go in cycles. For a few weeks all I will get are viagra/cialis ads, then stuff about some sort of sale "Discount 80%!" then the usual Angelina Jolie sex video spam. Right now the spammers are having a lot of fun making up fake news and entertainment headlines.
Here are some mof the more interesting ones from this week:
Nazi toddlers ruined my birthday
Jesus Christ to star in next series of Big Brother
Myanmar declares hate for Australians
Lindsay Lohan would do nude scene for Oscar
X-files film bombs at box office
Will Smith files for bankruptcy
AMERO to replace Dollar!
James Bond to have Gay lover in new film
Nation mourns the tragic loss of britney spears
Angelina Jolie and Madonna compete for adoption of Jamie Lynn Spears Baby
Patrick Swayze suicide after cancer news
Snake swallows horse!
Cindy McCain talks about her boobs
You are in mafia blacklist
Flu Outbreak kills thousands in Mexico
How is Will Farrell this week?
Tom Cruise falls from horse, breaks back
Serial Killer loves to party
And after any major disaster, I get a bunch of spam messages that follow up on it, saying things are even worse. Like '10,000 die in china earthquake aftershock!'
I wonder if people actually click on these?
